Learn about the first travelers to explore Illinois in this adventure-filled
week. Campers will be transported back to the 1700s to discover what the Fur
Trade was all about. Explore uncharted territory in this fun week! Other
activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a
field trip to the Elgin Public Museum.
Extreme Nature
Olympics June 30 July 3 No camp July 4th
This
week we will explore cool animal feats! Can you jump as far as a grasshopper?
How about carrying as much as an ant? We will participate and go for the gold
in our very own Animal Olympics. Other activities during this week include
fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a field trip to Rivers Edge at the
Belvidere Park District.

What
makes up a mammal? How about a reptile or amphibian? Is a spider really an
insect? Explore these questions and more when we discover animal
classification. Other activities during this week include fishing, labs,
crafts, hikes, swimming and a field trip to the Midwest Museum of Natural
History.

Help
celebrate the Prairie States 190th birthday by exploring and learning all about
prairies! Campers will learn about the animals and plants that call the prairie

hikes, swimming and a field trip the Byron Forest Preserve District.

you ever wondered why animals are certain colors? Discover the secrets of
camouflage and why it is so helpful for animals. Other activities during this

Dells Nature Center.

Follow a water droplet on an incredible journey. Where does it go? How did it
get here? What happens when it rains? Find out as we hop on board the water
express. Other activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts,
hikes, swimming and a field trip to Welty Environmental Center.

What
good is garbage and why do we care where it goes? This week we will talk about
why recycling is so important to our environment and what you can do to help.

and a field trip to the Sonoco Paper Recycling Plant in Rockton.

you afraid of animals? During this week well learn to respect wild animals but
not to be afraid of them. Well also learn what it takes to be called a mammal
and how we are more alike than different. Other activities during this week

Animal Athletes

During Animal Athletes we will explore the many extraordinary feats of
different animals. Do you measure up? What extraordinary things can you do?

Scales and Tails

Why
do reptiles have scales? What do animals have tails? We will study different
animals and figure out what makes them unique in this fun week. Well even get
to meet some scaly friends! Other activities during this week include crafts,

A Prairie Birthday

Happy birthday, Prairie State! Come and help celebrate Illinois 190th birthday
by learning all about prairies and the animals that call it home. We will take
walks through the prairie and even get the chance to help spread prairie seeds!

Deer! July 21 25
Did
you know that the white tailed deer is our state mammal? Well be on the
lookout for deer and their signs as we learn all about Illinois largest
mammal. Other activities during this week include crafts, snacks, stories and

Dip in the Pond July 28 August 1
Have
you ever visited a pond? Do you know what lives around one? During this week,
well visit the ponds and explore just what lives in and around them. Hopefully
well catch a frog or two! Other activities during this week include crafts,

No Litter Bugs
Here! August 4 8
Do
you know why its wrong to litter? Where does our garbage go when we throw it
away? Did you know that a special kind of worm can help us recycle food? Well
take a look at composting worms to see just exactly how they can help recycle
our leftovers. Other activities during this week include crafts, snacks,
stories and nature walks.
