ARCHERY HUNT


2010/11 Archery Hunt Dates:

  • October 2-3
  • October 16-17
  • October 30-31
  • November 6-7
  • November 13-14
  • December 11-12 *blaze orange required*
  • December 18-19
  • January 1-2         *blaze orange required*

Archery Hunt Locations:

  • Beaver Bluffs Conservation Area
  • Distillery Conservation Area
  • Kinnikinnick Creek Conservation Area
  • Kishwaukee Bend Conservation Area
  • LIB Conservation Area
  • O.O. Stimes Memorial Park & Conservation Area
  • Piscasaw Fen Conservation Area

Fee: $100 (May be paid at time of qualification or a week before first scheduled hunt)

Work Days:

Hunters that have qualified to hunt may choose to participate in work days for a
$25/work day reduction in the fee. 

Scheduled work days:

  • Saturday, June 26
  • Saturday, July 10 *Meet in parking lot of LIB Cons. Area - 7am to Noon*

A minimum of three people must be signed up for a work day to take place.  Please call 815-547-7935 ASAP to sign up.  Work will be conducted along the Long Prairie Trail (bike path).  Additional information (including time) will be provided at a later date.   

Additional independent work days may be performed for a fee reduction.  Work may include closing gates to archery hunt sites the night before scheduled hunts.  Any individual wanting to work independently for a fee reduction MUST have it pre-approved!

2010 Qualification Dates
Saturday, May 15th 7 a.m. – Noon
Tuesday, May 18th 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 20th 8 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
No make-up dates or additional days will be scheduled.

Driving south on Rt. 20 (heading towards Garden Prairie), Kishwaukee Bend is 1.5 miles after the intersection of Rt. 20 and Logan/Shattuck Rd. on the left side of the road. Upon turning into the driveway, you will cross over railroad tracks.

Qualification Requirements

Each participant must qualify by hitting 4 of 5 shots at a 6 inch target at 20 yards (15 yards for non-mechanical bows) with broadhead or mechanical tipped arrows. Hunters under 18 may choose to qualify on an 8 inch target with broadhead or mechanical tipped arrows at 20 yards. Each participant is allowed 2 attempts to qualify per day with a maximum of 3 total attempts.

Hunting Information

Qualified hunters will have the opportunity to hunt a “season”, or 8 Saturday-Sunday weekends.

At the day of qualification, you will rank your hunting areas in order of preference. After qualifications have finished, you will be assigned your hunting area. (A lottery will be held if the number of qualified hunters exceeds the conservation area limit.) If you qualify, a payment of $100 will be due no later than a week before the start of the BCCD archery hunt weekends. Conservation areas and hunt weekends will be determined at a later date.
