Storytails June 28 – July 2
Uncover the truth behind the many myths and legends about animals that humans have been telling for centuries. Some of them were used to scare children into being good and some were used to teach lessons. Join us and see what’s fact or fiction! Other activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a field to the Midwest Museum of Natural History.
Where the Sidewalk Ends July 5 – 9
What lies beyond the sidewalk? On the other side of the window? Outside the backdoor? Join us for a week filled with discovery and adventure. Other activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a field trip to the Burpee Museum.
The Lorax July 12 – 16
The word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear that, unless you are here, you’ll miss this great week and all that the Truffula Tree speaks. For the fact of the matter you’ll be mad as a hatter if all that we do is somehow missed by who? You! Join us for fishing, labs and great fun. For hikes, crafts and swimming but not too much hot sun! Field trip to Atwood Environmental Center.
Adapt or Die! July 19 – 23
What are adaptations and why are they important? Learn about the special ways in which animals and plants have evolved to survive in their specific habitats. Other activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a field trip to Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.
The Salamander Room July 26 – July 30
Why is it hard to raise critters we catch outside? Why can’t a salamander live under your bed? This week we’ll find out why, based on a great book about a boy who brings home a wild pet. Other activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a field trip to Camp Winnebago.
The First Forest 2 – 6
Imagine a world without trees. Without their beautiful fall colors. Without places for the birds and squirrels to hide. Imagine what it would be like to be a tree in that first forest. Come celebrate the beauty and wonder of trees this week. Other activities during this week include fishing, labs, crafts, hikes, swimming and a field trip to Royal Oak Farm in Harvard.
